Mahaprana Yoga

What is Mahaprana Yoga?

The roots of Mahaprana Yoga trace back directly to the Ancient Rishis of India.  It was these masters of old that first taught the coordination of movement, breath and mind as a means for self-cultivation.  From that time, the techniques of Mahaprana Yoga have been passed down exclusively from mouth to ear via the teacher-student relationship.  Only in the present time have these ancient exercises been made public.  Mahaprana is a Sanskrit word which translates to “Supreme Breath.”

Mahaprana Yoga is straightforward, and accessible to practitioners of all ages and levels of experience. It is a complete form of exercise that works virtually every muscle in the body, while simultaneously highlighting the importance of improved circulation of the blood, mental focus and respiratory control. The goal of enhancing the physical architecture of the body, is a rung on the ladder towards enhancing the inner architecture of the spirit.

Mahaprana Yoga is a powerfully refreshing symphony of motion and breath that can catapult an individual into entirely new realms of physical and mental power.  It provides a direct route for achieving peace in the mind and energy in the body, so that you can reach your highest wisdom.

Ancient Yoga as Modern Solution.

Though ancient in origin, Asanas (physical postures) have taken on added importance in our modern times. With the advancement of technologies designed to make our lives ‘easier’ many people have been coaxed into a sedentary lifestyle.   Yoga can remedy the tightness and weakness of our muscular-skeletal systems which results in unnatural body mechanics, poor posture and innumerable orthopedic issues.

Of course, having a fit body, and a competitive, anxious, materialist mind, is a degraded form of Yoga.  Our outward mental orientation, has us drowning in misinformation, while we are consumed by sense-stimulating images and the desires they promote.  Our minds run faster and more blindly. With much of the world’s information at the touch of a button, we retain the illusion that we are safe and connected. For most people the only remote place that remains is within. “Know thyself” we do not.

Mahaprana Yoga has a special allure, because it hearkens back to a time when people were more connected to the Heavens, themselves, and Nature. The ancient seers who resided in the Himalayas many thousands of years ago have left us a valuable gift for today – a powerful recuperating mechanism, that can bring us back in touch with our true, eternal nature.

Breathing Exercises

Prana Sanchalan Kriya is Unique and Powerful.

A keynote element of Mahaprana Yoga is a unique series of body-heating breathing exercises called Prana Sanchalan Kriya, which translates literally to: “exercise techniques for cultivating life-force.”

Though ancient in origin, these multi-tiered exercises represent a creative and technological breakthrough in the field of modern Yoga, enabling the practitioner to progress faster and more directly along the yogic path than common methods can provide.

This powerful combination of breathing exercises, mental concentration and dynamic body movements generate heat and prana in the body’s core. Marrying breath and motion, this energy is then dispersed throughout even the most distal, subtle channels of the body. This action enables us to vitalize the whole of our body, while dissolving blockages and assisting the purification of the nadis (energy channels in the body). Through Prana Sanchalan Kriya the breath, the mind, and the body merge into one process – a meditation in motion, and that is a very powerful Yoga.
